  Worship

"my house shall be called a house of prayer for all nations"  Isaiah 56:7

 

The uniqueness of our Interdenominational congregation finds its clearest expression during worship on Sunday mornings.  Our worship is planned and led by volunteers from within the congregation, reflecting a variety of worship styles and traditions.  In a month one might experience a hymn sing, a traditional liturgical service with hymns, a praise and worship style time of singing and prayer.   

 

 

       

 

Opportunities to lead or plan worship are (currently) being coordinated by Pastor Jeff Jacobson and normally done by email.  Unless otherwise noted, those involved in worship for any particular Sunday meet at 5pm on Saturday to practice.   We wish the worship of the Union Church to reflect those who are attending the services, and so we welcome you to play a part, whether that be singing, playing an instrument, reading scripture and praying, leading a children's message, or helping to select the music for a particular Sunday.

Sunday: a morning of study, worship and fellowship.

Adult Bible Study begins at 9:00am

Worship begins at 10:00am 

Children in Grades K - 6 are dismissed for Sunday School during the service

We celebrate the Lord's Supper the first Sunday of each month.

A Nursery is provided for children up to 5 years from 9am-11:30am

         

A typical worship service includes:

A time of singing praises to God in a variety of traditions
A time of confession and absolution
A time for children
A time of hearing and learning from God's Word
A time of offering ourselves to God
A time of welcome and prayer and....

There are several weekly opportunities at Union Church to gather for worship, study and fellowship:

Women's Bible Study                Tuesday  6:30pm @ Union Church

   Beach Service

The UCSS has traditionally held services down at the beach just prior to the beginning of the school year and at the end of the Christmas Holiday.  We normally follow the service with a pot luck and activities for the children.   

 

   Easter Sunrise Service

At 6:00am on Easter Sunday morning, the Union Church gathers at the top of the Salvador Volcano to celebrate the resurrection of our Lord. The site offers a sweeping view of the city below, Lago Illopango and San Vincente in the distance.  Please bring chairs and blankets for this service.   (Photo Bob Jordan)
